You'll notice that in each forum (roofing, foam roofing, solar power, solar thermal) key well written subject matter will have a small lightbulb next to it:

This means myself or other admins & moderators have determined that this is a good quality or well written topic on any given particular subject matter. Generally, you should read these first before moving on to lesser quality posts.

Aside from our terms of use I wanted to lay out a few basic forum ground rules. I've installed a few mods that have been pretty effective at cutting out bot spam, so at least for now things are fairly "clean" & spam free (and I hope to keep it that way). For now, these will be the forum rules. I hope we will be able to keep the rules simple and straightforward. This should be easy as long as this forum is not abused.

The Rules

1. -Quote Sources and include a link if you're taking excerpts from another site. If you've written something in your own words, this is not needed, although you may want to point out some kind of reference to support your point if there is one.
2. -Be polite: I'm sure many people will disagree on many issues on this forum. Surely, there are many things even the most educated "experts" can't agree on. We welcome debating on the forum, but we can't accept any personal attacks between members. So if you're going to attack something, attack the issue and do it in an educated way.
3. -Data: If you can support any point you're making with a study or empirical data, please link to it, or at least tell us the study & who conducted it.
4. -Language: Many people find swearing offensive, and we want to keep the site free of this kind of content.
5. -Links: once you have contributed at least 20 posts, you can include links to appropriate data, and related sites in your posts, but if we find links to porn, spam, malware or other evil sites, be prepared for a swift banning. The 20 contributed posts may not be 'spam' posts; we expect content to be contributed if you would like to create an external link.

**If your first post contains a link, expect to be banned from the forum. Please follow the linking rules presented here.

If we find a user is not following the forum rules, we will be striking with a big fat ban-hammer. The most intolerable behavior is probably related to inappropriate language, spam, and links to evil sites. If you can follow these few basic rules, I'm sure we will get along.
